Cuna de Platero will take to Fruit Logistica its commitment and work for the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

The company Cuna de Platero will attend Fruit Logistica, carrying out its commitment and work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Cuna joined the United Nations Global Compact last October,.

Specifically, Cuna de Platero is already working, in an initial phase, for the achievement of SDGs number 3 (Health and well-being); 7 (Affordable and non-polluting energy); 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure). Among the actions it has already taken to optimize the use of natural resources and energy efficiency are the installation of photovoltaic panels for the self-consumption of clean energy in Cuna , as well as actions to reduce the use of plastic; what comes to reinforce already consolidated quality programs and systems such as Food Chain Partnership, Bayer, IFS, BRC or Global GAP and its GRASP module.

“Not only we produce berries with the highest quality and safety throughout the year, but we take another step and align our activity with those of the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which they want us all to live in a better world ”, explained the CEO of Cuna de Platero, Juan Báñez.

As new this season, Cuna de Platero plans to launch its own experimental farm dedicated to the R&D of new crops and varieties for its partners, where it will carry out trials and pilot tests to continue advancing in the optimization of resources and developing varieties that adapt to the soils and weather conditions of Huelva. In addition, it has introduced the cultivation of pitahaya, (still experimentally).

Fruit Logistica will be held in Berlin from February 5 to 7, an appointment in which Cuna de Platero will hold business meetings and professional meetings. The business fair will bring together more than 3,200 exhibitors from around the world and more than 78,000 professional visitors.
